Getting to know you......

     Getting to know you is a project that I did for my final exam, for my photography class, for the spring semester 2012.  Where I went and photograph five different people from five different locations in the Los Angeles area.  I also ask my subjects a series of questions and turn their answers into a short story to bring the images to life.

Gavin a cancer, came from Indiana and currently living in Lincoln Heights.  He works for  L.A. Health Care and his hobbies are work and school.  What makes Gavin happy is his job, family and having a good life.  What makes him sad is unrealized potential and stupid people.  His biggest fear is loss of control.  What motivates Gavin is learning new things.

Victor a Virgo, born and raised in Downtown Los Angeles and currently living in Downtown  Los Angeles.  Victor is a film student going for a B.A. in film production.  On his spare time he likes anything that stimulates the mind, like museums, movies, and people watching, anything that is visual.  What makes Victor happy is when other people are happy and what makes him sad is the fact that we live in a progressive age and still have to deal with close minded people that are not open to equal rights.  His biggest fear(s) are heights and tsunamis and his motivation comes from his environment.

Adelita(lita) a Libra, grew up in San Fernando Valley and Currently living in Echo Park.  Adelita helps out at a school assisting autistic children.  On her spare time Adelita loves to knit, photography, bike riding, and making Cambucha (fermented black tea).  What makes Adelita happy is being healthy and coming home to her dog Tchonchi and also being surrounded with loving people, and the fact that she gets to change peoples life at work.  What makes her sad is apathetic people, people that expect changes but don't want to be a part of it.  People that don't see the problems in the world because they are blinded by a mainstream way of thinking.  Adelita's biggest fear is losing her parents since they been with her almost her entire life and life without them is going to be crazy.  What motivates Adelita is being challenged in life and to see that she could make difference.

Albert a Sagittarius, a native from South Central L.A.  Albert is freelance audio editor and sound engineer and does music too.  His Hobbies are to fly kites, collect keys and rocks.  What makes him happy is gummy bears and gummy treats.  What makes him sad is people not being considerate of others, rudeness.  His biggest fear is heights and creepy crawlers.  Albert finds motivation by pushing himself and knowing that he can always do better.

Natalie a Virgo, she doesn't know where she's from but currently living in Hollywood.  She's a Jack of all trades when it comes to expressing herself through art.  What makes Natalie happy is the simple and smallest of details, for example laughter, and anyone that is real enough to let go of their ego.  What makes her sad is when she losses trust in those simple and smallest details and she has no choice but to question everything and herself.  Her biggest fear is dying and not leaving any changes in the world.  What motivates Natalie is herself.
